Long-Tail Keyword
A long-tail keyword is a specific, usually longer search phrase with lower search volume and clearer intent, such as "waterproof trail running shoes for wide feet" rather than "running shoes".
Why long-tail matters
Long-tail searches are individually small but add up to a large share of all searches. They are usually less competitive and closer to a decision, so they often convert better. They are also how people talk to AI assistants: full questions rather than two-word phrases.

Examples
| Head term | Long-tail version |
|---|---|
| SEO agency | SEO agency for dental practices in Manchester |
| CRM | CRM for small law firms with Outlook integration |
| Cake delivery | Eggless birthday cake same-day delivery Delhi |
How to use them
Group related long-tail searches into pages that answer them properly, rather than creating a thin page for each one. Google's spam policies warn against scaled pages made mainly to rank (Google Search spam policies). See how to write content that ranks.
