Local business SEO focuses on 5-10 targeted pages covering core services and neighbourhood-level searches, tightly linked to GBP, rather than a large national content operation. Results often show faster than national SEO, 4-8 weeks, since local pack ranking depends less on broad domain authority.
What's different about local business SEO?
- Focused page count, 5-10 pages, not a large content operation
- Neighbourhood-level searches prioritized over broad national terms
- Closely linked to GBP Optimisation for local pack ranking

Local SEO is smaller than you think
A local plumber, dentist or salon does not need a content operation. It needs a well-kept Google Business Profile, five to ten genuinely useful pages covering its main services and areas, consistent details across the web, and a steady flow of real reviews. Done properly, that usually outperforms paid ads on cost per enquiry within six months.
What drives local rankings
Google says local results are based mainly on relevance, distance and prominence, and that reviews and a complete, accurate profile help (Google Business Profile guidelines). You cannot change your distance from a searcher, so the work goes into relevance (clear services and categories) and prominence (reviews, links from local organisations and consistent listings).
Reviews decide most local choices. BrightLocal's 2025 survey found only 4% of consumers never read reviews, 86% use Google to read them, and 40% are most likely to leave one after an email request (BrightLocal Local Consumer Review Survey 2025). A simple post-job email is the best local SEO tactic most businesses are not using.
What we do
- Rebuild your Google Business Profile: categories, services, photos, hours, products and posts
- Write five to ten pages for your main services and the areas you cover
- Fix name, address and phone consistency across directories and maps
- Set up a review request process by email or WhatsApp that stays within platform rules
- Track calls, direction requests and form enquiries so you can see what works
What not to do
Do not create fake locations or virtual office addresses to appear in more towns. Google's guidelines prohibit it and profiles get suspended (Google Business Profile guidelines). And do not buy reviews: it is now unlawful in the UK under the DMCC Act (Cooley on the DMCC Act, April 2025) and in the US under the FTC's 2024 rule (US FTC, Aug 2024).
