Evidence: where this runs

The fastest-moving local channel
For most local businesses, the Google Business Profile brings more calls and visits than the website. It is also the part of local search you can improve fastest. Changes to categories, services, photos and review activity often show within four to six weeks.
How Google decides who appears
Google says local results are based mainly on relevance, distance and prominence (Google Business Profile guidelines). Distance is fixed. Relevance comes from the right primary and secondary categories, services and a clear description. Prominence comes from reviews, links, mentions and how complete and active your profile is.
What we do
- Audit and fix categories, services, attributes, hours and service areas
- Add real photos and short videos, refreshed monthly
- Publish weekly posts on offers, updates and events
- Set up review requests by email or SMS, and reply to every review
- Fix name, address and phone consistency across directories
- Handle suspensions and duplicate listings where they occur
Reviews carry the most weight with customers. BrightLocal's 2025 survey found 86% of consumers use Google to read local business reviews, up from 81% in 2024, and 40% are most likely to leave one after an email request (BrightLocal Local Consumer Review Survey 2025).
What we never do
We do not create profiles at virtual offices or addresses you do not staff, which Google's guidelines prohibit and which get profiles suspended (Google Business Profile guidelines). And we never buy or write reviews. Fake reviews are unlawful in the UK under the DMCC Act from April 2025 (Cooley on the DMCC Act, April 2025) and subject to penalties under the FTC's 2024 rule in the US (US FTC, Aug 2024).
How we measure it
Calls, website clicks, direction requests, map pack visibility for priority searches and review volume and rating. See common GBP mistakes and how to rank in the local pack.
